Defying the elements is hard work, give your cape a break and some TLC!
We recommend dry cleaning your cape, preferably with a treatment that is neutral pH and suitable for delicate clothing. If you need to get any creases out of your cape, you can use a steam iron at medium or low temperature and make sure the iron’s dial is turned to the wool symbol. If you notice any shiny patches on your capucha, place a moist cloth over them before you iron and the burel will regain its original glow and resistance. This is also an easy little trick to breathe new life into your cape after you’ve been wearing it non-stop for a few years!
Show your capucha some love and it’ll show you a lifetime of great attitude and clean protection.

PRODUCT
How do I know if your one size fits all will fit me?
Cut into a single shape, our cape sits perfectly on the shoulders, which makes it ideal for all body types and heights – whether you’re tall or short, thin or wide, your cape will fit you like a glove. Why? Because the cape has a rounded fit which means that you’ll always have the warmth and protection you need and are looking for, whatever your size or stature. On a more specific note, the Women’s Capucha is asymmetric, which means that one side of the cape is shorter than the other and this detail ensures a perfect, lightweight and elegant fit, whatever your size or stature.
What’s the main difference between the Women’s Capucha and the Men’s Capucha?
With no unnecessary seams or embellishments, both capes are cut into a single shape for uninterrupted protection. However, the Women’s Capucha is asymmetrical and the shoulders have a more structured fit, which is suitable for all female body types and heights. The Men’s Capucha – which is designed for a man’s body – is not asymmetrical and the shoulders are sewn in order to give the cape a more rounded fit, which is suitable for all male body types and heights.
Is the cape warm?
One of natural wool’s characteristics is that it’s thermoregulatory, which means it helps maintain our body temperature while adapting to the exterior temperature as needed. When you’re wearing your cape, it won’t overheat you when the weather gets warmer and it won’t leave you feeling cold when the weather gets cooler.
Does the cape itch?
No it does not. The wool has undergone a traditional process that transforms it into burel, which has a dense felted texture that doesn’t itch at all. If you’d like, we’d be happy to send you some swatches so you can feel it for yourself and see our gorgeous colors in person while you’re at it!
How can wool be water-resistant?
The wool used to create our capes was transformed into burel, which means that after it’s spun and woven, it’s vigorously pounded in warm water during so long that it reaches its maximum shrinkage limit. The result is burel: a dense felted texture, which in turn has become water resistant itself. Unlike other waterproof fabrics, burel is breathable because it’s made from a 100% natural raw material – wool – which also means that your cape will never smell when it gets wet!
How long does it take to make an À Capucha! cape?
One experienced artisan (it may be Vera, Maria or Helena!) will be making your capucha, by hand, especially for you. It’s a 3 week process, but it’ll definitely be worth the wait.
How do I wash the cape?
We recommend dry cleaning your cape, preferably with a treatment that is neutral pH and suitable for delicate clothing.
Can I iron the cape?
If you need to get any creases out of your cape, you can use a steam iron at medium or low temperature. Please make sure the iron’s dial is turned to the wool symbol.
My cape has shiny patches on it – what should I do?
No need to worry! Simply place a moist cloth over the shiny patches and iron over them at medium or low temperature (make sure the iron’s dial is on the wool symbol) and your cape will be as good as new.
Do you have capes for kids?
We don’t have capes for kids at the moment, but you never know… Please drop us a line (info@acapucha.com) if this is something you’re looking for.
Can I order a cape from your past collections?
Please drop us a line at info@acapucha.com, along with a picture of the cape you’re looking for. We still have a few meters of burel left over from our first collection, so maybe you’ll get lucky and we can still have one especially made for you!
Do you make personalized/exclusive capes?
We do! We love making exclusive and personalized capes and are always excited to work on these types of orders, but it depends on the cape, the quantity, the occasion and a bunch of other factors that we must consider before making one exclusive cape. Please drop us a line (info@acapucha.com) if this is what you’re looking for.
