Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Vice Chancellor of the University of Porto, a linguist, literary critic and historian, author of a vast body of essays, Óscar Lopes (1917- 2013) was an outstanding intellectual and a proactive citizen of the second half of the 20th century.
His broad training, covering linguistics, music, history, modern and classical languages, philosophy and literature and lively intellectual curiosity drove Óscar Lopes to protean discussions of wide-ranging areas of study: logic, neuroscience, physics, and mathematics.
This documentary tribute exhibition was designed to showcase the intersection of several areas of knowledge that made up the life and work of Óscar Lopes. Canvases identifying areas of study hung along the room, and were read alongside tables at the centre displaying the professional work and personal documents of Professor OL.
A sheet of paper was a graphic element for the entire identity of the exhibition, evident on the large hung canvases, in the identification of the themes of the showcases and on promotional items.
