ILHA EDITION
2018 / self-initiated / CAPUCHAS / product development / portuguese tradition / crafts
With an ocean theme, the "Ilha" (meaning island) edition leads us to reflect on the planet and how we relate to it.
The campaign we put together with photographer Alexandre Delmar was inspired by the beach, the sea and the things that we, the land dwellers, dump into the water. This edition focused on another warning about plastic, which is now one of the greatest threats to the global ecosystem.
The Ilha edition is made up of a women’s model and a men's model in sand-coloured "burel", made of a blend of two types of naturally colour "bordaleira" sheep's wool. It has leather details in two colours — electric orange or blue — inspired by the signs used at sea.

ILHA MEN
SINCE OUR FIRST COLLECTION IN 2013 WE HAVE TRIED TO SET UP AN ETHICALLY-RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION CHAIN BY USING NATURAL FIBRES AND LOCAL SUPPLIERS. THE TIMELESSNESS OF THE COLLECTIONS AND THE QUALITY OF THE ARTISANAL PRODUCTION PROCESS ENSURE THAT THE "CAPUCHAS" ARE PASSED ON FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION, WITHOUT FALLING OUT OF FASHION. THE ILHA EDITION WAS YET ANOTHER WAY OF RESTATING OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY, THIS TIME IN AN AFFIRMATIVE AND VISUAL WAY.
